Emergency Preparedness Management

Protecting employees and managing a crisis situation at your facility has become an essential priority for corporations and government agencies today’s high-risk environment. Professionally exercising your emergency plans and procedures will provide your organization with a measurable evaluation tool in managing any real crisis.

Since 1987, many corporations and government agencies have worked with our company’s unique implementation in the development of training, full-scale exercises, tabletop exercises and functional drills for evaluating and improving your organization’s emergency plans.

Our Goal: To develop a pre-exercise concept with our clients
for testing facilities plans, command procedures, rescue and recovery responsibilities. We analyze this information to provide clients a professionally developed, coordinated and evaluated exercise. TW Management completes this project by generating a fully detailed exercise report, which includes recommendations and corrective actions for assisting your organization’s incident management structure.

Our Comprehensive Approach

At TW Management, our Exercise Planning Team (EPT) works extensively with our client in the design and development of the exercise. The EPT identifies the type, scope, goals, and purpose of the exercise. Once we identify specific objectives for your organization, an Initial Planning Conference (IPC) is scheduled between TW MANAGEMENT and the client.

Why TW Management: Since 1991, over 375 organizations have benefited from our unique emergency exercise services. Our attention to detail, realism methods, exercise control, and evaluation tools have been developed and tested by our nationwide network of emergency preparedness specialists.

Table Top Exercise Format (TTEX)

We apply various methods for conducting TTEX’s. These exercises are intended to encourage discussion of targeted issues regarding a hypothetical situation. This may include utilizing plans, policies, and procedures, or test necessary systems to guide the prevention, response to, and recovery from a defined event. A TTEX is generally intended to identify strengths and shortfalls and to develop an understanding of response concepts The TTEX incorporates discussions, problem-solving, and decision-making participation.

Functional Drills (FD)

A functional drill is designed to test and evaluate either individual capabilities or activities within a select function. FD’s are designed as a coordinated activity implemented to test a single specific operation or function. These drills provide specific focus and instant feedback in a realistic environment. Drills are effective for maintaining current skills, training on new equipment, or testing policies, plans, and procedures in a scenario-based format.

Full Scale Exercises (FSE)

Since 1991, TW Management emergency preparedness staff members have observed, evaluated, controlled, developed and participated in over 75 full-scale exercises. At TW Management, we’ve developed unique exercise concepts to provide our clients with professional quality full-scale exercise formats. Our attention given to planning, organization, and details, has allowed our emergency preparedness professionals to develop full-scale exercises for industry and governmental agencies.

An FSE is the large-scale response, which depending on your organization’s exercise objectives may involve multiple agencies at the local, regional, state and federal levels. This involves testing a major portion of your crisis management organization. These exercises generally include actual movement of personnel and mobilization of resources for demonstrating coordination and response capabilities. Depending on your organizational structure, any Management Response Teams, EOCs, or Field Command Posts are activated.

An FSE provides your organization a documented exercise manual as part of the After Action Report. Attributes for this type of exercise include:

  • Assessing organizational and individual performance
  • Evaluate interagency cooperation
  • Allocating resources and personnel
  • Assessing equipment capabilities
  • Activating on/off-site personnel and equipment
  • Evaluate public information systems
  • Test communication systems and procedures
